Vince Stevens was born and raised in the north-metro area of Minneapolis.  He is a 1999 cum laude graduate of Carleton College, where he studied political science and political economy.  Mr. Stevens is also a 2002 graduate of the University of Minnesota Law School, where he graduated with cum laude honors and on the Dean's List.  He was admitted to the Minnesota Bar in May of 2003 and previously practiced at Minneapolis law firms Moss & Barnett P.A. and Gislason & Hunter L.P. before joining with Tom Miller.

Vince Stevens represented a 72 year-old with severe and long-lasting injuries from a botched gallbladder removal.  She spent months in the hospital and may never recover to her pre-injury condition.  Stevens' client is a tough, strong-willed woman who survived a tragic and painful experience.

The parties reached a confidential settlement for several hundred thousand dollars!  Both Stevens and his client were thrilled with the outcome.  But most importantly, future patients will receive better health care because of this client's brave endeavor to shed light on a highly-negligent surgery.

Big congratulations to Tom Miller for his appointment as City Attorney for the City of Scandia. Mr. Miller is currently City Attorney for Cities of North Branch and Wyoming.  Miller & Stevens is committed to providing effective legal counsel for municipalities in the local area.

Vince Stevens represented an Estate of an elderly woman who's son stole many thousands of dollars from her during her lifetime.  A Judge in Pine County District Court ruled in the Estate's favor on all claims alleged, including fraud, conversion, misappropriation of funds, breach of fiduciary duty, breach of contract, and unjust enrichment.  The Judge awarded the Estate damages in the amount of $119,345.34.

Stevens noted that this trial was his proudest achievement in the courtroom.  After years of litigation, he felt that justice was finally served.

Vince Stevens settled five inverse condemnation claims against the County for a total of $410,000.  The County's lake-lowering project from 1987 flooded numerous properties for over a period of 20 years.  The residents lost portions of their land and its value.

Litigation lasted over three years, with one case going up to the Court of Appeals.  The residents were compensated for their loss in property value in an effort to make them whole again.

Dusenkas v. Chisago County, A10-1065 (Minn. Ct. App. Dec. 28, 2010)

Vince Stevens prevailed at the Minnesota Court of Appeals in an inverse condemnation case on behalf of his clients Frank and Debra Dusenka.  The Court of Appeals reversed the District Court's dismissal of the Dusenkas' case on summary judgment.  The Minnesota Supreme Court denied review on March 8, 2011.

Tom Miller's 60th Surprise Party

Family and friends celebrated Tom's 60th birthday with a surprise party planned by Erin Wilkerson, daughter and office manager.  Thanks to everyone who attended to remind Tom he's a great guy and family man.  The highlight was undoubtedly the slideshow with pictures of Tom's long lost youth.

Attorney Vince Stevens and his wife Amber welcomed their first baby, Hudson, at 12:50 a.m. on May 28, 2011.  Hudson Stevens was 6 lbs 12 oz and 20 in. long at birth.  Both mother and child are doing fantastic. 

The Stevens also announced they are moving to Forest Lake in 2012.

The City of Wyoming Stagecoach Days was a tremendous success.  A great turnout from its residents, and our Firm enjoyed participating in a great community event.

Thomas F. Miller was born in Princeton, Minnesota and graduated from Princeton High School in 1969.  Mr. Miller has resided in Chisago County, Minnesota for the last thirty-five (35) years.  Mr. Miller is a 1973 graduate of Hamline University, has a Masters Degree from St. Cloud State University, and is a 1984 Magna Cum Laude graduate of William Mitchell College of Law.  Tom was admitted to the Minnesota State Bar Association in May 1984 and has been a practicing attorney in the State since that time.  Mr. Miller has been a shareholder with a large Twin Cities law firm, Felhaber, Larson, Fenlon & Vogt, P.A., a shareholder with the Forest Lake law firm then known as Hebert, Welch, Humphreys & Miller, P.A. and now currently is a shareholder of Miller & Stevens, P.A.  Tom was also admitted to the Wisconsin Bar Association in November, 2006.
